I’m looking at a property this weekend, but I’m not sure if I really need a separate HVAC inspection. Doesn’t the general home inspection cover it?

A general home inspection will touch on the HVAC system, but it’s often not in-depth enough to catch hidden issues. HVAC systems can have problems like worn components, poor efficiency, or even safety hazards that a general inspector might miss. A separate HVAC inspection by a licensed technician can reveal the system’s age, maintenance history, and potential repair costs. Considering replacement can run thousands of dollars, the extra inspection can save you from expensive surprises. That’s a common mistake. A general inspection usually just checks if the system turns on. It won’t reveal hidden issues like poor airflow, refrigerant leaks, or unsafe wiring.
