Has anyone here actually gone through restoring a historic building after a fire in New York? My dad volunteers with a local preservation group and they’re trying to figure out if it’s even realistic to bring an old church back to its original state after fire damage. I know there are tons of extra rules when it comes to historic status, from materials you’re allowed to use to approvals you need from the city. Honestly, it sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare, and I’m worried it’ll be impossible to get insurance to cover the real restoration costs. I came across fire claims adjuster, which supposedly helps with both fire claims and historic property issues, but I’d love to hear if anyone’s dealt with this first-hand or has advice.

Yeah, restoring a historic property after a fire in New York is no joke. My family’s brownstone had a fire a year ago, and just getting insurance to pay for authentic materials was a huge ordeal. Working with an adjuster who understood the historic codes made all the difference. They made sure we got coverage for proper repairs, not just the cheapest option. It’s a long road, but with the right help, it’s doable. Just be ready for a lot of paperwork and approvals.
