Aloha, all! For anyone who’s made the jump to Hawaii for travel nursing, what tips do you have for adjusting to island life? I’m excited about the beaches and new culture, but I know moving to Hawaii will be a big change from the mainland. I’ve been looking at assignments and info on sites like hawaii travel nurse jobs, but I’d love some personal advice. What made your transition easier, both at work and in daily life? Anything you wish you’d known before arriving?

Great question! My first few weeks in Hawaii definitely felt like one long vacation, but it’s true that real life settles in quickly. What helped me most was getting smart about grocery shopping—food is pricier, so meal planning makes a big difference. I also made it a point to connect with other nurses, both locals and travelers, which helped me settle into the hospital culture and find good advice on island living. The pace is slower, traffic can be unpredictable, and weekends are all about the outdoors. Embracing the local rhythm really helps you feel at home!
